Things to do this Halloween
Living in South Mississippi provides many opportunities to see unique things. Halloween is just 3 months away, so start planning ahead on what you want to do to take advantage of the area. I'm going to list a few suggestions, but watch the events section of the newspapers (Stone County Enterprise, Sun Herald) or events on Facebook for more ideas. I am not paid by any of these suggestions.
One idea is the Historic Ghost Cemetery Walking Pub Crawl of Bay St Louis by Mystic Ghost Riders. This walking tour runs daily except Monday and Tuesday, but I think it would be great to do around Halloween. It is $29 per adult. It is a guided walk and you can enjoy drinks if you choose to. Some of the stops include the Train Depot, The Cedar Rest Cemetery, Century Hall, and the Hancock County Courthouse. Tour starts at the Blind Tiger in Bay St Louis. Another idea is the Witches Ride of Ocean Springs on Saturday October 26th at 5:30 pm. Line the streets in downtown Ocean Springs for this family friendly event. Watch the witches fly threw while they toss candy to the crowds. Witches Ride is a local non-profit focused on raising fund for local animal welfare organizations. Check the Facebook events section for more information.
Next idea is Williams Family Farms in Stone County (Big Level). They will open for the season on Saturday October 5th and close on November 3rd. Saturday hours are 10-9, Sundays 1-5 and weekdays are reserved for school groups. They have a maze and Saturday nights participants will use a flashlight to navigate. There will also be entertainment on Saturday nights. The Pumpkin Pie Festival will be on Saturday October 19th. There is also a general store where you can buy homemade apple butter and many other items. Check them out on Facebook at Williams Family Farms.
My last idea is a 5k run. Get out and get some cool October air on Saturday, October 26th for the Bay St Louis Cult Classic 5k. Runners are encouraged to dress as "your most beloved cult classic movie character". So, lace up those shoes and get moving. Try couch to 5k to get you ready. There is still time.
